Abstract
This unfinished novel tells the story of a utopian island called Bensalem that travellers had encountered during their voyage from Peru to China through the Pacific Ocean. When they arrived to Bensalem they are welcomed by a representative from Salomon’s House - an academic institution focused on science and research devoted to obtain, accumulate, teach and investigate the mysteries of the natural world - who explains to them - in detailed description - the purpose and the functionality of that institution and they society in general. It details the customs and the culture of the island with its core on science and research. The novel portraits Bacon’s belief that science and nature can work together to provide the answers for several questions asked by humanities throughout the centuries. Besides, Bacon understood that humankind is perfectly capable of advancing to create a better world.
