Abstract

"Native Tongue" by Suzette Haden Elgin is a feminist science fiction novel set in a dystopian future where women have lost their civil rights after the repeal of the 19th Amendment. A group of female linguists, who help communicate with alien races, secretly develop a new language called Láadan as an act of resistance.
