This book is the first sustained investigation of the political dimension in the work of J.G. Ballard. His oeuvre is read as a continuous meditation on late capitalism, at the heart of which lie questions of power and resistance. Drawing on a wide range of concepts from critical theory, the study argues that Ballard's texts respond to the exhaustion of received forms of political struggle by developing a new, pataphysical discourse of resistance.
