| dc.description.informations | PREFÁCIO * pp. V - VI O autor começa o prefácio deste 4º vol. da sua obra "Romance of War" comentando o sucesso dos 3 vols. anteriores, sucesso esse que justifica a publicação da continuação das aventuras do regimento de Sir Dennis Pack. Neste volume o leitor acompanhará o regimento até Waterloo. James Grant refere também que a sua obra é a primeira a dedicar-se exclusivamente às aventuras de um regimento escocês. Recordando os muitos que já marcharam desse regimento, o autor exalta o nacionalismo dos 'highlanders', "(...) and long may such sentiments animate their representatives as they are the best incontives to narcism, and to honest emulation!".
