dc.description.abstractThe novel features Charles Babbage (1791-1871), an English mathematician and inventor credited with having created the first automatic digital computer, and Sir Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890), who is being hunted by Spring Heeled Jack and experiencing hallucinations about a parallel reality. Burton and his companions then embark on an expedition through time which drives them into a steampunk-like future where an authoritarian intelligence rules over the British Empire.
dc.description.authorMark Hodder (1962-) is a British writer, living in Valencia, Spain. He wrote the Burton & Swinburne novels and created the Blakiana website, about Sexton Blake, a fictional British detective. The first novel of the Burton & Swinburne series, The Strange Affair of Spring-Heeled Jack, won its author the 2010 Philip K. Dick Award.
