Abstract
Written as a post-apocalyptic novel, it navigates into the story of Myra and her daughter Pearl in a 100 years future when the world was devastated by an uncontrollable elevation of the oceans, and the only places of survival are at the mountaintops already crowded with people. They have a boat which was built by Myra’s grandfather before he passed away, and start to live a relatively quiet and isolated life at sea, only coming to shore to trade fish for supplies, since Myra has excellent fishing skills. During one of these incursions on land, Myra finds out that her other daughter Row, who was taken from her when she was pregnant with Pearl, might still be alive in some remote land across the sea. Suddenly everything changes for Myra had never stopped thinking about her eldest daughter. Therefore, the story develops in Myra’s need for a solution to get to her daughter in time before something really bad happens to her, her intense relationship with her youngest daughter Pearl, and the brutal world they live in.
