Abstract

Dark Matter explores the concept of alternate universes/multiverse through the main character Jason Dessen, who is a physics professor. During a completely random day in Jason’s life, he becomes unconscious and awakes in a science laboratory, and what seems like another world, where everything is changed: he is not himself but another Jason (Jason2), who is an extraordinary and well-known scientist. Also, his wife is not his wife, and his son was never born in the first place. Jason is questioned by a number of scientists in the laboratory where he is held, and it is revealed to the reader that Jason was abducted by Jason2, as Jason2 wanted to experience his life as a married man. As a result, Jason is sent to Jason2’s world, where he is then held in the laboratory. Eventually, Jason reaches his own world and confronts Jason2. After mortally wounding his counterpart, Jason moves to another world to live peacefully with his wife and son.
