The Windup Girl was his debut novel and has won the Hugo Award (tied with The City & the City by China Miéville), the Nebula Award, the Campbell Memorial Award, the Locus Award for best first novel, and the Compton Crook Award, all in the year of 2010. Bacigalupi has written other works of both fiction and non-fiction, usually concerning bioengineering and/or imagined dystopian futures.
